Immigration in The Revolution Era 1770-1780

The American Revolutionary War eleimnated the possibility of more immigration. America took its first census in 1770 which showed that there were 3 million of people in the United State. In the 1770s and 1780s most of the immigrants came from Ireland and out of the 3 million Americans counted in the census about 400,000 of them were Irish. Not many people migrated to America in the 1770s and 1780s because of the war and the fighting. people didn't want to get involved in the war. Many of the soldiers that fought in the war on the side of Britain came back to America after the war.

1777 - Washington crosses the Delaware to launch sneak attack on Trenton

The American victory over drunken Brits and Hessians boosts the morale of Continental soldiers and encourages many to re-enlist. Things had not been going well for the colonists prior to this.
